KS Choi Foundation for the Arts
Purpose of the K.S. Choi Foundation for the Arts Gala
The K.S. Choi Foundation for the Arts, founded in 2024, is dedicated to promoting community interaction through physical, mental, and social well-being beyond martial arts. Our mission is to empower youth by fostering unity through community engagement, including fundraising events, scholarships, and our annual international competition. Through initiatives such as travel assistance, after-school programs, women’s self-defense courses, family training, and affordability efforts, we strive to positively impact the lives of children and families in our community.
The primary purpose of this gala is to raise funds in support of our 31st California Open Taekwondo Championship, which will be held at the Anaheim Convention Center and is expected to host over 1,500 competitors from across the nation and around the world. Net proceeds from this event will also help fund several key initiatives, including:
Expanding our school and completing necessary construction
Purchasing a school van for after-school pickup and tournament travel
Providing scholarships for competitive athletes within and outside K.S. Choi Taekwondo, including funding for overseas training in Korea next summer
Hiring expert coaches to help train and elevate our athletes to the next level
Funding free women’s self-defense courses for college-bound females and other women in the community
Purchasing gear, uniforms, and covering tournament registration fees for competitors in need
Our minimum fundraising goal is $150,000, though we are committed to surpassing it in order to maximize our impact. Through this gala, we aim not only to celebrate our community but also to invest in the future of our youth, empowering them with opportunities to grow, compete, and succeed on a global stage.
